The Turtle :o)
Many years ago Rodney and I invested in a blue plastic turtle to use for back rubs. Of course this was a gimmick and after one use was downgraded to the nightstand drawer. About a year ago, I introduced this fabulous tool to Conan. He did not seem very interested in the turtle at the time so again, it was demoted to the the nightstand drawer. About three months ago, I started using the turtle to scratch Conan's belly. Conan seemed a little nervous at first, but relaxed into a deep coma of happiness as Mr. Turtle continued to rub his belly. Today, I was rubbing Rodney's back with Mr. Turtle when out of nowhere, a Scottie dog appeared. Conan threw himself between Rodney and I and demanded a belly rub from Mr. Turtle. I thought it was too precious that Conan knew his Turtle was in use, and he was not going to miss out on the action.

Rodney Returns!!

Ya!! Rodney will be retuning today after being gone since Sunday. Whenever Rodney goes away, I always think of all the projects I will accomplish while he is gone. However, I did nothing. Oh wait, I did put the dishes in the dishwasher because I was to lazy to wash them. My nights consisted of trying to figure out what I was going to eat that would be yummy and wouldn't take too much effort to clean-up. After several very unhealthy meals, I decided that a meal at Bahama Breeze with Sam (ex co-worker from EY) would be fun.
Conan and I have developed a sleeping plan/arrangement for when Rodney is gone.
1) Conan and I are ready for bed by 9:30
2)I make sure the door to the bedroom is closed and locked (Conan will keep me up all night "trying" to protect me from every sound if the door isn't shut. Locking the door helps me feel better)
3) Conan and I get into the bed with remote and phone in hand. (need to have the phone in case of a bad guy. I was informed by Rodney that our phone will not show our number if I needed to call 911 because it is Vonage...poop!)
4)turn on tv and sleep with it on all night.(Conan of course takes up the entire bed).
5)make sure tv is on a channel that will not have animals (made that mistake on Monday...Conan scared the poop out of me at 3:00 am barking at doggies.).
6)Wake up in the morning and do it all over again. :o)
So needles to say, Rodney and I are going to be very excited to have Rodney
home again!

What is this falling from the sky?

No, it is not a scene from Magnolia. You won't see any falling frogs here just some much needed rain. Coming from Florida where it rains everyday at exactly 4:45, I was somewhat relieved to move to Texas where the rain wasn't as predictable. However, after several months without much rain and tempatures above 100 degrees, it was nice to have a 5 minute shower. Hopefully we will get more in the weeks to come, but our genious weather forecasters are not predicting much rain, just high temps.

Schools Here Again :o)

Rodney approached me on Tuesday slightly upset. He could not understand why I was not frustrated with the school bus stop still in our front yard. To put his fears aside, I decided to type a letter expressing our concern for the safety of the children and ourselves. I was very impressed by my ability to state what had happened last year while reframing from sound accusatory. Of course, as fate would have it, the internet went down and I was unable to print my letter.
Today I decided that a talk with all the parents would be the best way to start off the year. I was extremely nervous to approach parents and ask them to keep their child under control, but it went suprisingly well. Rodney and are praying that this year turns out okay and not horrifying like last year. Rodney and I have even gone to the extreme and purchased a lock for our fence to keep children out of our backyard.

Fun with Tiffani and Abby

Since Jim (Rodney's cousin Tiffani's husband) was out of town for the weekend, Tiffani, Abby, Rodney and I decided that an adventure to the antique malls would be very exciting. I was pleasantly surprised by Abby's ability to withstand a few hours looking at extremely old and funky items.

While doing our search for the perfect antique, Tiffani spotted a life size Barbie! As we coaxed abby towards the Barbie, I had to grab my camera for some classic creepy life size Barbie pictures. Tiffani and I even managed to pull the Barbie into the center walk way to get better pictures. At one point, Rodney looked extremely embarrassed by the amount of fun we were having with Abby and the Barbie. To really grasp the true amount of fun we had you will need to click on the picture to enlarge the suprise inside...Barbie's boobs are showing! How can a mother allow her child to pose in she a manner! haha..oh what fun we had. I love living close to the them.

Rodney found this beautiful horse while on the excursion. Rodney thought the horse was "awesome." I don't understand why anyone would have such a thing but I guess everyone has different likes and dislikes.

Dad, your awesome!
Sometimes, I am curious if Conan ever ponders why he always has to be my personal accessory in all the pictures.
I took this picture to thank my dad for the most awesome sterling silver jewelry set every! He purchases an entire collection of sterling silver while he was in Iraq, so this is even more special than the every day gift. Thanks dad for your thoughtfulness and ability to pick out something that I absolutely love!

Can you find Conan?

Last Friday, Rodney and I took our usual trip to Target. After strolling the aisles in the garden section, I came across the mother load of all finds. I knew the brown and Silver sage carpet had to go home with us from the moment I put my eyes on the the beauty. It was located on the clearance end cap without any markings or a price tag. After expressing my extreme excitement for this lovely item, Rodney hauled it over to one of the Target teenage boys for a price. Of course, he could not locate a price and jokingly I said I would pay $15.00 for the carpet, the teenager said "more like $115.00." Well, a more senor associate was called over in an attempt to locate a price. I told the associate I would pay $30.00 for the carpet. He proceeded to scan another nearby carpet while I made a better offer, $15.00. The senor associate thought about my offer for five seconds and then said the best words in the world "you can have it for $15.00." WOW!! What a steal! It fits perfectly in the breakfast area, even Conan loves it. Can you find Conan? He is located at the lower right. :o) Now, I have to find a doggy mat and bowl set that blends in better with the carpet.
On Tuesday, I went to Target again to price the small door sized carpet and I was shocked to find it was $19.99. I guess I can splurge on the small carpet since I saved about $130.00 on the large carpet. I love great finds!
