Where is the Corn Starch??

Howdy to all! I haven't updated the blog recently, so I though I would put some random junk in here as filler until something really exciting happened.

My new job is going great! I honestly haven't been this happy to go to work since I was working at Monkeywards. Because I have so much time in the mornings, Rodney and I cook breakfast together. We have also started car-pooling which not only saves us money but allows us to have fun quality time together before we head off to the grind.

Today Mr. Conan when to the doggy beauty parlor. Karen, the groomer, even said that Conan was the best Scottie that she has ever known!! Way to go Conan! When we got home from the groomers, Conan had to frap (frantic running around playing). After about 20 minutes, I noticed that his quick was bleeding on the carpet. I franticly looked for some styptic powder or corn starch to clot the blood. But of course, I had neither. I went to four neighbors asking if the had either and no luck. Finally I resorted to flour which really doesn't work as efficiently.

The moral of the story is to have a doggy emergency kit and then I wouldn't have had to good to all my neighbors home soliciting for clotting powders.

Almost Home

I really don't have much to speak about today so I am posting a few pictures from Sunday and today. Tuesday I will leave early for the Miami International airport to join my favorite men (Rodney & Conan) in Texas. After several years of living in FL, I never thought that I would find a FL city that I didn't care for but unfortunately, Miami happens to be that city.

Apparently Conan had a wonderful time at Aunt Erin's & Uncle Steven's house over the weekend. Conan had a minor set back on Thursday night due to separation anxiety but according to Erin, Conan regained his fun-loving nature the following day and remainder of the Weekend.

Rodney picked-up Mr. Conan this evening and has indicated that Conan is watching him like a hawk and not letting him out of his sight.

Well, I enjoyed my training and my stay at the Biltmore, but I am ready to be in Texas and start working in Southlake. I am very excited about this new chapter in my life. :o)

Where is the American Embassy?

Well, my title says it all. Rodney arrived Friday morning for our little Miami vacation. We decided that we wanted to take in some of the Miami "culture" and eat at a Cuban restaurant. It was very yummy, but it was very obvious that we were not getting the same service as the Spanish-speaking patrons. Rodney and I both loved how we felt so at home in the country of Miami.

On Saturday, we wanted to get closer to the American culture so we went closer to Cuban than Miami. We started our day only going to go to Key Largo to eat at a recommended seafood buffet called Whale Harbor. After eating, we decided to see how far we could go in an hour which turned into seeing how far we could go in another hour. Our original trip to Key Largo ended up taking us to Key West! We were there for about and hour. Rodney and I took pictures at the southern most spot in the U.S. We also went to Hogs Breath, which is where Hemingway spent a lot of his time. We didn't eat at Hogs Breath, but we did buy a few T-shirts and a hat.

I never thought I would say, "I am ready to go back to Texas."

It hasn't felt like 5 years!!

Today is the greatest day of them all! Today is our 5th year anniversary. I can't believe that we have made it this far without killing each other. I feel like we have done a lot in a little bit of time.

Rodney and I started our friendship while our father's were in the Marine Corp. Our parents were thankfully stationed at the same locations for several years. Because of my crush on Rodney, I would always want to hangout with Rodney and Michael (my brother) to participate in their stupid and crazy activities. I would constantly ask Michael to find out if Rodney liked me. Although Rodney knew I like him, it took me until the age of 18, he 23, to finally get him to go on a date with me because he "gives everyone a chance." After a year and a half, we finally (I convinced him) decided that our relationship was destined for a lifetime.

Now 5 unbelievable years later, we are going strong! Rodney I moved to Orlando, FL in 2001. We became a family in 2002 with Mr. Conan. We both received our degrees, Rodney's in 2004 and mine in 2005. During 2004 and 2005, hurricanes seemed like an everyday occurrence. After surviving through Charlie and going through 3 more hurricanes, Rodney and I decided on a move to Texas. We relocated to beautiful DFW in 2005. We have had a wonderful opportunity to start out our young marriage in a very beautiful house. Rodney is working on his second year at VW (not the car maker) and I am working on my first week at a wonderful up and coming financial company.

Hopefully at the 10th year anniversary, I will be able to add the birth of a baby, but only time will tell what the future has in store for us.

Somewhat Famous!

Standing in the lobby of the hotel awaiting my wonderful cab ride, I overheard John McCain's name being mentioned. I notice a guy getting out of a Honda Civic indicating he was at the Biltmore to pick up Senator McCain's wife. I thought I might have misunderstood what I was hearing, but I did not. Immediately before my cab arrived to pick me up, Cindy McCain emerged very beautiful and elegant, as a politician’s wife should look. I am assuming she is not staying in the Junior Suite King, but another more fancy room within the hotel. She may not be as famous as some previous guest, but she is somewhat famous to me.

My cab rides continue to be very exciting and different. Yesterday I had a young cab driver who must have bathed in cologne. I was unsure if I would be able to remain in the cab for the 2 mile/10 minute ride without rolling down the windows; however, I made it to my destinations without rolling down the windows, but I thought I smelt a little cheap. My afternoon cab driver has been my favorite so far. He was very pleasant and talkative, informing me of all the places I should visit while in Miami. You never know whom you are going to get as your driver, so it is always nice to have interesting and entertaining drivers.

Here are a few golf course pictures requested by Rodney. Of course my camera phone doesn't do the view any justice.

Room Service Rocks!!

I love ordering room service! Today was the first time I got to experience a wonderful breakfast being brought to my room. If you are at all interested, I had a glass of milk and orange juice, scrambled eggs, hashbrowns and toast. My breakfast came with tiny cute jelly jars, which I am bring home.

Today was my first day at the new job. Everyone seems to be extremely friendly and helpful. There is a lot to learn, but I feel like I am catching on very quickly. I will have a total of 400 loans to handle when I return to Texas so I don't foresee a period of boredom. Since I am going to be the first remote foreclosure coordinator, it was nice to meet and put a face to all my other co-workers. I hope the rest of my time here goes as wonderful as today!

Welcome to Miami-Buenvenidos a Miami

I have landed in Miami. My flight was uneventful; however, my cab ride through the ghetto could have been skipped. Okay, maybe it wasn't the ghetto, but it sure gave me that impression. When an entire nieghborhood has bars on the windows, I am thinking it is for safety and not decoration and could possibly be a ghetto. If it is not a ghetto, they sure are givng people that impression. Once I entered the safe confines of Coral Gables and saw the sign for the Biltmore, I felt the blanket of safety fall over me. The hotel is very impressive. I have yet to explore, but will do so sometime this week. The picture to the left is from my window. As you can see, I have a magnificent view of the golf course that I will not use. I am sure Rodney will lust over the beautiful greens when he arrives Friday for our Miami vacation/5 year anniversary.

Here is a wonderful picture of my favorite men! Rodney is giving me the "okay it doesn't take 45 minutes to take a picture" look, but I wanted to get the perfect picture of them both.

I informed conan during my final good bye that daddy was going to be doing the routine for the remainder of the week. Conan is aware that he will need to train daddy to get the proper cookies and yummies when they are required. I hope Mr. Conan and daddy have a wonderful time sleeping and hanging out together, but I hope they don't have too much fun without me. :)

Stay at home "Doggie Mom"!

I have finally pulled the plug! I am free, I am free at last from my job from hell and really enjoying my week off before my trip to Miami for training. During this week, I have been brought back to when I was going to school full time. I was unemployed for two years while I worked extrememly hard to get my educmacation. I did "work" as a sub, but making $50.00 a day doesn't really count as working.

I have been trying to convince Rodney that money is not important and I should be a stay at home "Doggie Mom"; however, this is a little hard than I had anticipated. For some reason, my husband is very money motivated and not keen on me "hangin" with Conan. Everyone loves Mr. Conan, and I would like to contribute his good personality to the fact that I was a stay at home doggie mom for two years. I know, I should have dreams of being a great business women, but I really enjoy sleeping in during the mornings. Can anyone really blame me? :-)
